September Member Meeting,
Friday, September 19

Let’s get together and enjoy the evening! Although the club has had dozens of activities this summer, the monthly meetings remain a great place to catch up with each other. The weather should be gorgeous and still light enough to get out and play, so we moved the September meeting to an active place.  Located on the Oak Leaf Trail and Milwaukee River, the Urban Ecology Center is a gem in the city and a past recipient of Nordic Ski Club donations.

Recently, UEC restored 40 acres of land along the Milwaukee River as an arboretum of native species and improved wildlife habitat. John McCarthy engineered the new Arboretum and will give us a tour at 7 pm and a presentation during the meeting. Milwaukee Rotary Centennial Arboretum
Or bring your bike, hiking shoes, kayak, binoculars and your sense of adventure for several hours of unstructured playtime outdoors, followed by the general membership meeting and Ice Cream Social. Bring your friends and introduce them to the club and to fellow members.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting. Here’s hoping for a long Indian summer followed by great snow!

Directions to Urban Ecology Center: Exit I-43 at Locust Street and head east toward the lake. After you cross the Milwaukee River bridge, continue to the traffic light at the corner of Oakland and Locust. Turn right/south on Oakland Avenue. Go 3 blocks to Park Place. Turn right and travel west for 2 blocks. The Urban Ecology Center is located at the end of this street on the right. There is a parking lot on the left and street parking is available on Park Place, as well as on side streets.
