Nordic Ski Club Summer Picnic

This year we’ll be back at Big Cedar Lake and able to do a variety of fun activities.

Paul Keber will lead a 26-mile bike ride beginning at 10:30 am. The roads should be quiet and rolling.

There will be swimming at the beach, and a place to launch your kayak or canoe. There are trails to hike on the campus. Or you can lounge on the lawn by the beach house or bring games to play. There’s also a volleyball net set up. Bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a lawn chair and your favorite lawn game if you wish.

We’ll be eating around 1 pm. There are 2 grills available for our use. The kitchen has a refrigerator. Please bring a dish to share and your own meat to grill. Charcoal, ice, bottled water and table service (plates, napkins, cups, and plastic utensils)and basic condiments will be provided.

From Milwaukee, take Highway 45 north to the Highway 41/45 split. Follow 41 north to Highway 144 North for about 0.3 miles. Turn right onto County NN. Follow for about 4 miles. Go straight onto Highway Z and then left onto Home Drive, which will lead in to Cedar Community. Take the campus road to the left past the main nursing home building. Turn right onto Lake Drive (will be marked with a special sign) and take this road down the hill and follow the signs to parking (open grassy area). There will be a short walk from the parking area to the Beach House.
