Our November meeting will be something you're sure to enjoy at Retzer Nature Center in western Waukesha (Town of Genesse)... a planetarium show and an optional hike.

Come at 5 pm for a pre-meeting flashlight hike starting near the center building entrance. Restrooms are available at the maintenance building north of the parking lot.  Trail map.

At 6:30 pm, the nature center building will open. Displays may be open for us, but this is not definite yet. The planetarium will open at 7 pm for our short business meeting, with the one-hour “Winter Sky Legends” program at 7:15 pm.

Earlier this fall, the planetarium premiered its new, $330,000 digital video and surround sound technology. The new video system utilizes high-powered computer software used by NASA for training, a high-capacity host computer, and 4 high-resolution graphic-processing computers that send graphic images through 2 laser-phosphor video projectors to produce 4,000-pixel, high-resolution presentations on the 40-foot dome ceiling.

Event is free.  There are no entry or parking fees at Retzer, and our club will cover the cost of the planetarium program.

Directions to Retzer: From I-94, take Waukesha/Pewaukee exit 291 (County Road TT), go south 2 miles on TT/Meadowbrook Rd, turn right/west on US-18 for 1.2 miles, turn left/south 0.2 mile on County Road DT, turn left/east on Madison St, and go a short distance to entrance on your right/south.

Socializing afterward is of course optional, but the plan is to go to the Delafield Brewhaus in Delafield, just south of I-94 and east of US-83.
