Come on folks, let's get together and enjoy the evening! Although the club has had dozens of activities this summer, the monthly meetings remain a great place to catch up with each other. The weather should be gorgeous and still light enough to get out and play, so we moved the September meeting to an active place. Located on the Oak Leaf Trail and Milwaukee River , the Urban Ecology Center is a gem in the city and a past recipient of Nordic Ski Club donations. Bring your bike, hiking shoes, kayak, croquet mallet, binoculars and your sense of adventure for several hours of unstructured playtime outdoors, followed by the general membership meeting. Also, bring your friends and introduce them to the club and to fellow members. Don't forget that when they join, you get a $10 certificate toward a 2008 - 2009 ski trip. Renew your own membership at this meeting, too!

Everyone has been snapping pictures this summer at Nordic events; so bring photos for show-and-tell. If you have extra prints, you may wish to bring them to share. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting. Here's hoping for a long Indian Summer followed by great snow!

Directions: Exit I-43 at Locust Street and head east toward the lake. After you cross the Milwaukee River bridge, continue to the traffic light at the corner of Oakland and Locust. Turn right/south on Oakland Avenue. Go 3 blocks to Park Place . Turn right and travel west for 2 blocks. The Urban Ecology Center is located at the end of this street on the right. Street parking is available on Park Place , as well as on other side streets.

Playtime: Until 7:30 pm Meeting & Photo Swap Time: 7:30 – 9 pm in the Community Room
Bring: Your friends; your bike and helmet, hiking shoes, kayak, croquet mallet, binoculars, etc.; your membership renewal; photos to show and extra prints to give away

Invite your friends to any of our monthly meetings, events or social get-togethers. Any friend of yours is a friend of ours! To help you promote the club, we have “business cards” listing the Nordic Ski Club hotline and the web site. Extra copies of the newsletter can be emailed from the website or printed and handed to your friends with an invitation to join. Please get extra cards from club President, Katie Bivens, or Membership Chair, Kay Krebs. Give them out liberally, and post them wherever you think there might be interest. Remember: we're a year-round recreation club. Spread the word!
