Peak Nordic Ski Club: Based at Lapham Peak State Park. Youth from kindergarden to Senior year of High School are encouraged to have fun skiing in this program. Any child who wishes to ski, no matter what school they attend, may join. The emphasis is on fun and games for the younger kids. The high school team is very successful on the statewide racing circuit. Some former team members have attended college on nordic ski scholarships. Some have gone on to race with the best racers in the world! Most team members have developed a love of skiing that stays with them for years after they graduate from the team. Most current members of Peak Nordic Ski Club ski the Kortelopet as soon as they are old enough to sign up for it. We had at least 16 alumni of the team in the Birkie or Kortelopet in 2010. The 2009-2010 Season had about 27 active members on the high school team, 14 middle schoolers, and 35 or more kids in the kindergarden through 6th grade program.
